I really like this song by muse. I think it's my favorite one of them, and I always wanted to paint something inspired by it, so here it is. I chose this because during the day I caught myself thinking about Shi, and this song fits her so well. Not only the lyrics, but also the emotions I feel when I listen to it, it's really captivating.
As you can see, I can't separate music from art in general, so I'm always inspired by thoughts, most of them provided by musics I'm listening in the moment I'm creating.
Done in Photoshop CS4, around 3 hours. The character is also mine. Shi can be checked out around the gallery somewhere.
edit: I forgot to confess something that really ashames me EHQWIUEHQWIUEHUWQI. When I was a sissy little girl, I used to buy that Witch magazine just to read the comics, cause I LOVED the concepts and the drawing style and all (even tough it all turned out to a crap and I stopped buying 'cause the drawings were sucking the hell out of it). I didn't use a reference to paint the wings, but I know there was a strong influence while I was sketching this piece, so, credit to them.
